Manufacturing Execution System is a computer software that controls
the production of a company on factory level. It is more commonly
known by its acronym MES.
A MES software links together the various design and planning
systems and the actual production machinery. Its main duties fall
into the following four categories:
- production control
- service automation
- quality control
- inventory control
